Lamy, a renowned German manufacturer of high-quality writing instruments, is known for its fountain pens, ballpoint pens, rollerball pens and pencils. The brand now relies on Shopify Plus and has a hydrogen-based headless solution.

Implementation
The project includes a headless storefront with multiple Shopify backends and separate checkouts. Lamy operates various stores, including an EU store, a US store and a store for the Japanese market.
The project also presented some special challenges. For example, the backend team developed an individual connector to Akeneo, as the existing solution did not meet the customer's specific requirements.
Another highlight was the implementation of Hydrogen. One of the special requirements: Lamy serves globally distributed markets with a combination of its own stores and external “distributor stores” or franchise stores. This made it necessary to consolidate data from different Shopify stores within one domain. For example, the content of www.lamy.com/en-us comes from a different Shopify store than that of www.lamy.com/de-de.
By using Storyblok as the CMS, it was possible to create a flexible and scalable solution that optimally supports Lamy's internationalization. An engraving function was also implemented, allowing customers to engrave their writing instruments individually, with a choice of two fonts and various positions.
